OOPS! (CLEARING UP CONFUSION)
Hi Future Honors Students,
I’ve had a couple questions about reading logs and journals. Looking back at the sheet, that is my fault. Last year’s students had to read four books instead of three and I forgot to change a phrase on the sheet. Anyway, for A Farewell to Arms and another book of your choice, do the READING LOGS, no journals. The directions are on the back of the summer reading handout. For the third book, do the READING JOURNALS only (journal entries), ten of them.
If you have any more questions, let me know. I check my email often. However, I will be out of the country August 4-16 and probably won’t have access to the Internet.
Happy reading!

Hello, Mrs. Buboltz.
I am going to be starting the journal soon. I have some questions about how to do it. I tihnk of a journal as just righting down summaries of the section in which you just read. Is this what we are supposed to do?
Is that what you want for the journal?
Hi Jessica,
There are instructions on the summer handout for how to do the journals, but, no, they are not summaries. They should include discussion of literary elements you see in the book and general thoughts you have along the way.
