English 11A: 1st Book Project Posting Spot
FOR YOUR independent book project this time, in addition to the book talk and the reading logs, you are required to post to this spot twice. You must fill the box to get full credit. If you have numerous errors, I will not approve it, and you will have to do it again. Proofread! Use only your first name and last initial. The criteria for the postings is as follows.
1. In the first post, tell people what you think of your book. Do you like it? Would you recommend it? Is it in your top ten? Bottom five? Tell us something interesting. These are only suggestions, not a formula for an answer. Use details, examples, and explanation to support your opinion.
2. In your second post, respond to another student’s posting. What do you think about his or her book? Would you read it? Why? Why not? You do not have to respond to someone in your class. You may respond to anyone.
Have fun!

The book I am reading is called “The Second Chance”. My book is written by Jaclyn Reding. So far, I like this book very much. I’m about halfway through it. It’s kind of a hard read, because they use a big vocabulary, but I’m getting through it just fine. It’s basically a love story, of two strangers who have both lost their spouses and aren’t looking for love, but find each other anyways. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes to sit down and just read. This isn’t a book that you can read piece by piece, because it always leaves you hanging and wanting to read more. The Second Chance has definitely made it into my top ten favorite books.
I am reading Death Match by Lincoln Child. I haven’t got very far in the book but so far it is OK. I wouldn’t recommend this book because it isn’t as good as what the title would make you believe. Its not the worst book I have ever read but its not the best either, so I would put it in the middle somewhere.
My independent book that I’m reading is called “Blind Faith”. The author of my book is Ellen Wittlinger. I like my book so far but I am only on page 85 out of 280. I would recommend this book to people who have relations to loved ones who have passed or who have gotten greatly sick because they would connect well to the story line. One part of my book that is interesting is the fact that you learn about mediums. Mediums are where you can supposedly talk to the deceased. The main character and her mom go to a spiritualist church to try and talk to their grandmother and mom named Bunny. This book is leaning towards one of my favorites.
For my project I am reading Things We Couldn’t Say . It’s the true story of the author, Diet Eman and her fiance during WW2. So far I really like the book because I love history and this kind of gives me a better idea of civilian life in Europe during WW2. Also, I like it because I feel like I can relate to the author herself. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes history and romance.
The novel “Identical” is amazing. It’s definitely in my top favorite books. It’s written by Ellen Hopkins, who is a fabulous author. The book is written in verses set in chapters, and the chapters alternate from the point of views of two twin sisters; Kaeleigh and Raeanne. If you’ve read any of Hopkins other novels, you really have to read this one. I would highly recommend this book to people who are interested in more of a dark theme. Even if you’re not, this book is amazing. I finished the book a few days after starting it, because I couldn’t put it down. I had trouble stopping to keep up with my reading journals. The book has a very interesting plot twist at the end. I’m usually good at seeing how movies or books end before they do, but I never guessed how this story ended. It’s a must read.
The book that I’m reading for my Independent Book Project is called Keeping Faith, by Jodi Picoult. This book is VERY good and it makes you think about things you would have never thought about. The little girl, Faith, who is only seven years old, claims that she can see God. She also tells people that the God she is seeing is a woman. There are pastors, priests, and rabbi’s who all come to make sure the child is truly seeing God. Also, she is currently suffering from stigmata. It’s so sad that she’s so young and she has to go through all this stuff. News reporters camp out in their front yard to try and get a story on her. There are some non-believers in the book, but I think that in the end, she will really be seeing God, and that she really does have stigmata.
I think that the book that Nicole H. is reading looks very interesting to me. I like books that I can easily relate to. Also, love stories are always a good thing to read about. They are always so cute, and make you want to have a relationship just like that ones in the movies or books. The one part that I don’t think I would like very much is the big vocabulary. I’m not a big fan of reading with a dictionary sitting next to me. That takes away the purpose of me reading it and trying to enjoy it when I have to keep looking up words and trying to figure out what they mean. I have never read anything by Jaclyn Reding, but I think that I just might have to read a book by her.
The book that I am reading is “The Testament” by John Grisham. I really like it so far. The way that it is written makes the plot very interesting. I would recommend it to just about anybody who wants a relaxing read. It is definitly in the top ten of books that I have read by John Grisham. I really like it because I am learning a lot about South America. In my book the main character goes to Corumba to find the lady that has just inhierited eleven billion dollars. It shows me the landscape of the Pantel and about how Indian tribes down there do not want to be associated with the people of civilized life.
The book I am reading for my book project is called “Perfect Match” by Jodi Picoult. It is very good. It is about a woman, Nina, who is a District Attorney and prosecutes child molesters. Suddenly one day, her son, Nathaniel stopped talking. She took him to a therapist where she was told to teach him the basic sign language. She does that and he signs “father”. Nina kicks her husband, Caleb out of the house and gets a restraining order on him for Nanthaniels sake. I’m not going to tell you everything about the book except that you need to read it! It is so good. Its definitely in my favorite books.
The book that i am reading is called “Lock and Key” by Sarah Dessen. This book is definitely one I would reccomend. The main character Ruby is very independent. In this book Ruby’s mom left her in a rundown home, during Ruby’s senior year. Ruby leaves her home, school, and friends to live with her sister whom she hasn’t seen in 8 years. This book is amazing, it shows how Ruby learns that not every one will leave you, and that people can love you. This book has many themes, and many things you can take from it.
The book that Carly S. is reading sounds good to me. I have previously read books by Jodi Picoult and they are very sad, yet fun to read. They all have good stories. My favorite book by her is “My Sister’s Keeper”. I would read Carly’s book, “Keeping Faith”, because it sounds interesting. I would like to find out the end of the story and if she is really seeing God or not. I also think its sort of funny that the paparazzi are camping out in the little girl’s yard trying to get a story on her.
My book that I am reading for my independent book project is Fly Boys. This book is a great book. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes history stories or people who really like to read really long books because this book is kinda long. This book is about these guys who fly planes back in World War 2. No one really likes them because they are black but, when they put their lives on the line to save/help the United States everyone starts to pay them with a little respect. So overall I really liked this book. It was one of the best books I’ve ever read.
The book I am reading is called running With the Buffaloes. It is a true story about the University of Colorado’s cross country team. They are training for the NCAA national championships. Their coach is Mark Wetmore and his star runner is Adam Goucher. The book describes their intense training and Wetmore’s training program. These are the elite collage runners of the country, and they race against some of the best runners in the world like Bernard Lagat, the winner of the 5k and 1500M in 2007 the first person to ever do that. The story is also about the runners lives. There is a crazy plot twist in this book. Chris Severy dies. Any athlete that respects the best of the best would enjoy this book.
For my book project I am reading “Hitman” by Parnell Hall. It is a fiction story of two main characters. Their names are Stanley Hastings, and Martin Kessler, who is the hitman. He wants out of the business so he tries to talk Stanely Hastings into watching his back in the event that someone of similar professional skills is shadowing him. Once Stanley feels sorry for him he says he will help. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries. It is a good book so far.
The book I am reading is Gossip Girls ‘The Carlyles. I really enjoy reading this novel. I would have to recommend this book to anyone who likes a little romance and likes fashion and gossip. So I would mostly recommend it to girls. This novel would have to be on my top ten along with the other Gossip Girl novels. I really like the how the author always twists things so that the really rich don’t always look so fabulous like they are suppose to, because everyone is human and no one is perfect. I enjoyed the parts where is talks about the fashion and the outfits of the characters. Its very fascinating.
I read a book called From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz. It was a very interesting book about three people who are all somehow related to each other, kind of by fate. One guy’s name is Bartholomew and he was born on the same day that a guy named Enoch got hospitalized for puking uncontrollably after pushing his wife off of a eighteen story tower. Also a girl named Seraphim was in a hospital for getting raped and getting pregnant from it. Enoch for some reason also thinks Bartholomew is his mortal enemy. BC
The book i’m reading is called Lemonade Mouth . It’s a story about how a group of misfits meet in detention and start a band. I really enjoy this book mainly because of “Sista Stella” as she calls her self. She decides to reinvent herself one day by chopping off her forever long hair and wearing non conforming t-shirt and holy jeans. I would recommend this book to people who like sort of off kilter humor or some one transitioning from middle school to high school .
The book I am reading is called “The Hunt For Red October.” So far, I have liked it a lot. It follows the story of two main people, the captain of the Red October and the C.I.A agent in charge of the investigation. I would recommend this book to people who like adventure books. It is definitely in my top favorite books.
I think Ethan B’s book sounds interesting. It sounds like something that i would enjoy reading. I like books that have many twists in them.
I think the book that Ethan B. is reading sounds very interesting. I think that it is always fun to read about real life people because it shows you what real people do everyday to do what they love. I also think that “crazy plot twists” in books makes them interesting and fun to read. I like books like this because then you’re getting more than one flat story line. This makes it so you never know what is going to happen next which makes you want to keep reading it till the very end.
I think that the book that Carly S. is reading called Keeping faith sounds good. It would definetly be something I would read.
I think that the book Carly S is reading sounds really good. I have read a couple books by Jodi Picoult and they were really interesting. Her books always seem to have a twist in the story. You think something is going to happen and then it changes so I am curious to see if the little girl, Faith, actually sees God or what happens. I am definitely going to read “Blind Faith.”
I think the book that Nicole W. is reading sounds like it would be of interest to me. I have read Sarah Dessen books in the past, and I have loved each one I have read. I like reading stories, where the main character is a teenager. It makes me feel like I can relate to some of the things the main character might be going through. Being able to relate to the book is always helpful for when you are reading it. I’m going to put “Lock and Key” on my list of books to read, definitely.
The book Nicole W. is reading sounds along the lines of other books I have read. I think it sounds pretty interesting. She says it’s good, so i might give it a try sometime.
Hello!! Mrs.Buboltz.
I’m Tum, an exchange student from Thailand.
I’m reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I really like this book because I have read each book 3 times in Thai. Harry Potter is a story about a boy whose natural parents are dead. On his eleventh birthday, someone tells him that he is a wizard. And he doesn’t know that he is very famous in magic world. He attends Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry to learn magic under the guidance of the kindly headmaster Albus Dumbledore. At the end of this story, Harry Potter meets someone who killed his parents and tried to kill him. I recommend this book because when I read it, I couldn’t stop reading. The last time that I read this book, I spent time to read it only 1 day from morning to midnight. It’s always my favorite book forever.
The book I am reading is The Devil in the White City. I really enjoy this book because the detailed thoughts, actions and descriptions of the characters, especially when it is H. Holmes. I would recommend this book to those who like characters that are macabre yet have outstanding charisma. It is one of the best books I’ve read.
I think that Sami S’s book would be a fun and interesting read because of the way she says the characters act in their nonconformist ways. I would definately read Lomonade Mouth.
The book I am reading is “1984.” The author of my book is George Orwell. I think this is an ok book bacause I do not like how you can not freely speak your mind. For example the main character Winston Smith writes in his diary one night “DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER” over and over again. After realizing he wrote that he says that he has commited the worst crime; the thoughtcrime. I would recommend this book to everyone. I would not say that this is one of my favorite books but it is an ok book.
I think that Hillary M ’s book would be a good book to read because I was really close to my uncle before he passed away recently so i think reading it might bring back some good memories.
The title of my book is Timeline by Micheal Crichton. So far it is a very good book. It is about several historians that go through a wormhole in the universe to go to a different universe to save a professor that was lost in that universe. The universe takes place in the Middle Ages. When they arrive knights come kill their guides and the transmitter that takes them back to their universe, trapping them there. I would definitly reccomend this book to anyone. The only bad thing is that it is long.
I think that Josh B’s book sounds interesting. I like mysteries and it sounds like the story is very good and entertaining. I like the title too. If I was looking for a book I would give that one a look.
I like the book that Eathan B is reading. It is about cross country and I am on the team right now and we are hoping to go to state. So I can relate to this book because we are traing hard also.
The book that I am reading is called The Langoliers. It has been a good book. The book is about an airline pilot that is on a red eye flight from LAX back to Boston and they have a few troubles on the way home. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a somewhat suspense horror kind of book. This is the first Stephen King book I’ve ever read, and I think that there are a few more to come. Overall I think this was a pretty good book. I could consider it on my top ten.
The Book I am reading for my book project is Wild Fire by Nelson Demille. He is an awesome author. The main character in my book is John Corey. He is a retired homicide dectective, who is currently working for the Federal Anti-Terrorist Task Force. This book moves a little slow for my pace, but I still like it. He goes through so much with getting shot, and getting into trouble all the time. He has such a cocky, stubborn attitude which makes this book great and interesting. This is one of my favorite books. It’s very long but good.
Travis’ book looks interesting. I like adventure books a lot. He has a good taste in stuff like music and movies so he probably likes the same books as I. The book sounds like a pretty good action story and I like adventure books. I would strongly consider reading that book.
For my project I’m reading Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. The book is based in WWII on an island off Italy. Catch-22 follows the path of some soldiers and other people on base. The book is very intresting, funny, and has alot of irony. This book makes you think alot about the different views and beliefs of the multiple characters. This book is probably my favorite book I’ve ever read just because of all the wacky humor throughout.
Travis L. book sounds like a book I would read. It sounds like a fun advanture book with good action. I’ve always liked the Middle Ages and I think it sounds intresting to go back in time. The part about it being long doesn’t really bother me either since I uasually read long books.
The book that jeremy is reading sounds interesting to me, because I like those older war story books. jermy picks out some pretty interesting books. So I think that Flyboys would be a pretty good book to read.
I think the book that Ethan B is reading sounds very good because I’m in cross-country team. So, I would like to know about their life. How do they practice? Do they practice very hard? If I can find this book, I will read it.
For my book talk I read Someone Like You by Sarah Dessen. The book is amazing! I love reading her books. You can always relate to the story and the characters. It’s amazing how she can capture the feelings of teenagers and then make it into a story. I always feel I’m right there, next to the characters as if I was part of the book. Her sense of style and word choice is easy to understand.
I think Hillary M.’s book sounds really good. Any book that can relate to people and what their life is like is a good book. It also sounds interesting to read about a supernatural power that people have. It just makes the book have a different twist to it to keep the reader interested.
For my book project I’m reading Generation Dead by Daniel Waters. I would definitely recommend this book to others, it’s a story filled with suspense, friendship, murder, and even a love triangle. The book takes place in what seems to be present day, but something very strange is going on. Sure Oakvale High is like every other high school… well except that half the students are dead. It would seem that Americans are being punished by god himself, because dead American teens are not staying that way. If you didn’t see her breathing you might think that Phoebe was one of the “living impaired”. Phoebe’s refusal to conform to society’s rules maybe the reason that she started showing interest in Tommy Williams a boy in her homeroom; one problem he is lacking a pulse.
I think that Nicole W’s book sounds interesting, and Sarah Dessen is an amazing author. I have read several of her books ,“Just Listen” was my favorite. Now that I have heard that “Lock and Key” is a good book I will have to read it. I like that fact that Dessen always confronts very serious problems. If you have not had the chance to read a Dessen book yet go out and buy one, you will love it.
The book that Alex K is reading sounds like a wonderful book. It sounds like a book that I would really get in to just like a book I read last year about pilots. This book I could relate to cause I am going to go to the Air Force Acadamy when I get out of school.
For my book project I am reading the book called Pay It Forward. The author is Catherine Ryan Hyde. I really loved the book it was very interesting. I would recommend it to anyone who loves to help people in anyway possible. The main character of the book is a little boy named Trevor and he decides to take on an extra credit project in social studies. The project was he needed to come up with a plan to change the world for the better. He accomplishes many tasks including some hard ones. This was a very good book and I would have to say that it would be in my top ten books.
I think the book that Sami’s reading sounds really interesting. I read books along the same lines all the time; teenagers rebelling, doing what they like, becoming friends, etc. From Sami’s description it sort of reminds me of the book Hairstyles Of The Damned (one of my favorites). Like it could almost take place right in it. I would definitely read this book. Hopefully someday I will.
The book I’m reading for my book talk is Dancing On The Edge by Han Nolan. I’m about half way through at this point (not good, I know. Finishing it this weekend!) and so far I don’t really like it, but it seems to be getting better as it goes along. The story is about a girl named Miracle, who lives with her grandmother Gigi, and her father Dane. Her mother died while giving birth to her and it sort of haunts her. Her grandmother is a medium and is into the ‘dark magic’ and such. One day while Gigi, Miracle, and Miracle’s aunt and uncle are on the Ouiji board talking to Miracle’s mother, Dane ‘melts’. They go to his room and his clothes are laying just as if he were just wearing them, and it’s a big mystery.
This book is a very easy read, but I haven’t really been getting into it.
I would not reccomend it so far.
I think that April’s book sounds like it is really good. I’m not very big on reading but it makes it so much easier when you can relate your life to the characters in the book. It can also be interesting when you put yourself in the character’s position, and decide what you would have done different.
I am reading “The Last Seen Leaving” by Kelly Braffet. I am not into this book as much as what i hoped i would have been, but it is still a pretty good book. It talks a lot about family issues and how losing someone important in your life can mess things up. It also shows how making one mistake can change your life for the worse. I would recommend this book to someone if they like mysteries.
My book is called Sleep Rough Tonight by Ian Bone. It is an alright book. It is about this kid named Alex who is striving for attention. He always annoys the seniors so they will beat him up and people will give him more attention. I would not recommend this book to anyone. It is kind of boring but that is just my opinion. This book is a sequel to another book and maybe if you read that book first this book may be more interesting. Overall however its not my favorite book I have ever read but definately not the worst either (Scarlet Letter).
I read a book called “The It Girl” by Von Ziegesar. It was one of my favorite books by far. I was actually sad when I finished it, and I’m looking forward to reading the others in the series. The ending could have been a lot better, but it definitely made me want to read more and more. In this book you could see the main character change from beginning to end, which I also thought was cool. I would recommend this book to someone who likes to read about things that could really happen, like real life stuff. Which is why I think I liked it so much.
I think the book Carly S. is reading sounds good. But then again any book by Jodi Picoult is good. She is an amazing author. But the book sounds interesting how a girl saw a god, who was a woman. That might have to be my next reading choice.
I am reading “Chosen” it is the first of four books in the “Lost Books” series. It’s about a boy that is chosen to save his civilization from the masses of evil called the Horde. He needs to find the six books of history and keep them out of the hands of the horde. The book really focused on trust and belief in another person. I would have to put this book in my top 10. I would recommend this book to anyone that wants a good quick fantasy read.
I think that the book John J. is reading would be a fantastic book to read. It sounds like it has massive amount of humor that will keep you wanting to read more. The book also makes the reader think in different views and beliefs of the characters and makes the reading all the better. I am also a fan of WWII books.
The book I am reading is “Indelible” and is written by Karin Slaughter. I like this book very much, before reading this book I read a different book by the same author and I also enjoyed that one. This book is part of a series of books about a pediatrician named Sarah Linton and her ex-husband Jeffery Tolliver, who is the Police Chief in the Grant County. In this book they are starting to date again after their divorce. When Sarah goes into the station one morning to visit him two armed gunman come in and start to shoot the place up. The book is telling two stories at the same time. It goes between telling the story about the gunmen in the police station and a memory Sarah has about when she went on a trip to Jeffery’s hometown of Sylacauga where people end up being murdered and the remains of a girl that Jeffery was suspected of raping in his younger years are found. Throughout the entire book I wondered what the memory had to do with the main story and in the end it tells that the people shooting up the police station is the son of the girl that Jeffery is suspected to have raped. He thinks that Jeffery is his father and is mad because he thinks that he abandoned him, when in truth the memory tells at the end of the book that the father of the boy was the Police Chief in Sylacauga. I would recommend the book to anyone that likes murder mystery and series.
The book “Generation Dead” by Daniel waters that Jasmine P. is reading sounds very interesting. I think that any book you can relate to is a good book, and in a weird way I can relate to this book. Love, friendship, high school, not wanting to conform to society, it sounds like everyday life.
I read a book called “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” by Ann Brashares. It tells about friends who found these amazing pants which fit perfectly on everyone of them. I didin’t really like this book because I felt that I’m “too old” for it. I think the book is too long and there is too many things you don’t even have to know. It tells more about the girls life than the pants which I thought is the idea of the book. The only thing what I liked in this book was that it was really easy to read because it didn’t use a lot of hard words.
The book that I read for my independent book project is called “Twilight” by Stephenie Meyer. This book and the others in its Sega are the most interesting and most amazing books that I have ever read. The book is all about Bella Swan and Edward Cullen, a human and a vampire, who fall in love. It may sound weird but it is truly a book worth reading. I keep trying to explain more about what happens in the book, but everything I type reveals a really exciting part of the story. To keep it simple, Edward soon finds that he can’t live without Bella. One of my favorite quotes for the book is, “When you can live forever, what do you live for?” Edward says this when he talks about being immortal. I would most definitely recommend this book to someone else.
The book which Ethan B is reading sounds interesting. I like books which have a real story behind them. It makes them more interesting because you get more into the story. I also like books which tells about sports but there has to be something else too, like Ethan said “The story is also about the runners lives.” The crazy plot twists are important and they make the book fun. I think I could enjoy a lot about this book. It sound like a book which has a lot of things that I really like.
The book “Generation Dead” by Daniel Waters that Jasmine is reading sounds really good. It doesnt sound like your normal read, the whole zombie effect with love and friendship. It sounds really good and can relate to today in a weird way, by like being yourself and being happy.
The book I am reading is the 47th Samurai by Stephen Hunter. It was more incredible than I expected it to be. From start to finish it is story filled with incredible action and plot twists. The theme of the book is DO THE RIGHT THING. This appears over and over again in the story. Bobbby Lee Swagger is faced with tough decisions and in each case he does everything in his power to DO THE RIGHT THING. The central symbol in the story is a japanese sword that has been handed down from generation to generation. Get your copy today.
For my indpendent book project I am reading “Dreamland” by Sarah Dessen. I would recommend this book to someone who is having troubles in relationships or just to see how good you have it in life to compare to what others have it like and what they go through. I am really interested in the book because its about how she is so in love with boyfriend Rogerson that she doesnt care how he treats her.
The book that I read for my Independent Book Project was “1984″ by George Orwell. This book is a lot like the book “Anthem” that we read in class except a little bit longer and more intresting. The book is about you as an individual and how the people you want to trust can easily be your enemies. I would recommend this book to anyone who liked the book “Anthem” and people who often wonder what it would be like to live in a world like that. This book is up in my top 5 favorite books.
I think that the book that Sami S. is reading sounds pretty good. I would like to read it because I play guitar and I’m in a band. I love music a lot and I think a book like that would be different from anything that I have read before. Also, I like books about people who change a lot throughout the story.
The book that I read for my independent book project is called “Love Walked In” by Marisa De Los Santos. I absolutely loved this book. I definitely recommend it, but mostly to girl. It is a love story, as you can tell by the title. The interesting thing about this book, is that it starts off with two totally different stories. But as the book goes on, it puts the two stories together. In a way, they are still separate because they are told in different points of views. This book is definitely in my top ten, even in my top five.
I think the book April S. is reading, “Someone Like You” by Sarah Dessen sounds really interesting. I have read one of her books before and it sounds like I would enjoy this one also. I love being able to relate to her stories. The thing I like most about it, is they are written about teenagers, and I can easily understand the message she is trying to say.
I read “Beastly” by Alex Finn. It’s a remake on the fairy tail “Beauty and The Beast” turned into a modern story. It isn’t what I would normally read, but over all it was a really good story. It brought a very big twist onto fairy tails. The main characters are Kyle or Adrian Kingsbury, and Lindy, obviously Kyle is turned into a beast, and true love is all that will break the spell to turn him back to normal. I did like this book, and I would recommend it to people who like love storys. It was definately a top 10 book for me. The book itself seems like it would take very long to read, but it was very short, at most it took about a couple of days to finish it.
Even though she doesn’t really like it, I think I would want to try the book Haley S. is reading, I’m into those sorts of stories. I like books that get better as you go.
Johnny J’s book Catch-22 sounds interesting. I like interesting characters, irony, and wacky humor. But, how do you get World War II to be wacky?
The book that Johnny J is reading “Catch 22″ seems like it would be an interesting read. I usually like books that are about history, learning about the past is usually fun for me. I also love books that are funny and have a lot of irony, so I will definitely be checking that out. The book that Jeremy read, “Fly Boys” also seems very interesting. I have watched the movie, and I thought that it was pretty good. I guess that I now have a few more books to had to my list of books I want to read, it is starting to get long.
The title of the book that I am reading is called “the Truth about Forever”, by Sarah Dessen. This book is about a girl named Macy who falls in love almost unexpectedly. I thought that this book was really cute, and it always kept me interested in reading more. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes other Sarah Dessen books, and also to girls who like cute books, and romance stories. After reading this book I would definitely say that it is in my top ten books to read!
I think that the book Nicole W. is reading called “Lock and Key” looks really interesting. I just read a book by the same author, Sarah Dessen and I really like the way that she writes. She is my favorite author and always has good and interesting story lines. I would like to read the book “Lock and Key” because I am interested to find out what happens in the story.
For my Indepentant Book Project I read The Notebook by Nicholas Sparkes. I have never watched the movie before so that’s why I chose it. I think that this is one of the best books I have ever read for school. It’s definitely up in my top ten, next to the Harry Potter books. I would recommend this book to anybody even if you have watched the movie before because I was told that the movie was based on only a part of the book. The way that Nicholas describes how much Noah loved and cared for Allie is the best thing about the book. It really made me want the relationship they had.
The book I read is Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. This book is so great. I was hooked by the first sentence, and I couldn’t put it down. I read it the first week the project was assigned if you can’t tell by now this book is definitely in my top five. The book is about a girl name Bella who falls in love with a vampire named Edward. My favorite part was when Bella and Edward are in the meadow, but I’m not saying anymore than that. I would recommend this book to any one who likes to read a love story with a twist.
The book that Vicki P. is reading “Twilight” sounds like a really great book. I heard something about the movie not being as good as the books which I totally believe. I think that once I find time to read, which won’t be for a very long time, I might try and read Vicki’s book.
The book Danielle F. is reading sounds interesting. I like books that are about someone helping other people out. I will have to search for this book and read it. Thanks for the recommendation.
The book I chose to read is “Red Rabbit” by Tom Clancy. The plot is very interesting. To keep things simple, it is about three parallel plots that all end up twisting together. One is about Jack Ryan, the main character of Clancy’s books, who is working in England at a government agency called Century House. Another character is Ed Foley who is working in the Soviet Union. The last character is Oleg Zaitzev who is a communications director for the Russian KGB. I personally liked the plot of the book but I hated how Clancy wrote it. He took forever to get into the plot and the most interesting parts of a 600+ page book were the last two chapters. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is not a loyal Clancy fan, which I will not be becoming after reading this book.
The book that Josh B. is reading sounds very interesting. I personally like mysteries because they always keep me guessing at what’s next and they keep me involved in the story. Also, the plot to the book seems interesting from what I have read. I would definitely give this book a chance.
The book that I am reading is called Maximum Ride by James Patterson. It is book number three in a series and I have read the two books before this. I really enjoyed the two books before this as well as the third one. This book is about six kids that were altered at birth by mad scientists. The scientists mixed their DNA with bird DNA, causing them to grow wings and be extremely fast and strong. It may sound a little childish but I would definitely recommend this book series to anyone interested in a sarcasticly hilarious author and a nice, smooth-flowing read. This book has definitely landed in my top ten favorite books of all time.
I think that Vicki P. is reading sounds very interesting. I have heard from people who have read it that it was very good. It defenitely sounds very different to me, but it sounds good.
I think that the book that Kristine H. is reading sounds pretty good and interesting. I think I could relate to that book in a couple of ways because I did lose a family member and it really did mess a lot of things up in an emotional way . I love reading mystery books if I have to read a book for something. However I didn’t choose that kind of book for my independent book project this time, but I will probably do it for my next one. I will for sure try to read this book in my spare time or else maybe for my next independent book project. I think I would really like this book a lot.
I think I would enjoy reading the book that Travis C read for his book report. I absolutely love adventure books and books that have to do with the C.I.A. I just might have to read this book for my next book report. Travis, I’m totally stealing your book when i see you in class! Ha ha, just kidding.
I think that Danielle’s book PAY IT FORWARD sounds like a very good book. It sounds interesting how a young boy would take on an extra credit project and try and accomplish it by changing the world. I think that he is a very wise young boy and anyone would be proud of him. It makes me wonder how he helped change the world. It definitely seems like a really good book to read…maybe when I get some extra time I will take some time and read it.
I read the book “The Time Traveler’s Wife”. The book is about the lives of a time traveler and his wife. It’s full of action and romance. It’s defiantly a fantasy because a lot of the things that happen in the book are very unrealistic. It’s really hard to try to describe what happens in the book because it’s a bunch of stories put together. I guess in some ways it’s like reading a diary. I would say it is one of the top ten books I have read. It can get a little confusing at points because it jumps from time to time. I would still recommend it to a friend though. I really enjoyed reading the book.
I am reading a very interesting book. The title is True Believer by Nicholas Sparks. I chose this book because people have been saying he is a good author, and they are right. I am done with it…and it is really exciting. The beginning wasn’t that good, but as you get to the third chapter…it really picks up. It is about a guy named Jeremy who is a reporter for New York. He goes down to Boone’s Creek, North Carolina to do research on a cemetery that apparently has mysterious lights. Meanwhile, he falls in love with a Librarian who is interested in him too, but is very scared to precede in a relationship because he is leaving to go back to New York and she doesn’t want to get hurt again. Now, they must risk everything to make sure that there love can survive. This book has definitely made it to my TOP TEN.
I thought the book “Twilight” that Vicki P. is reading sounds interesting. It sounds like she really enjoyed it. I have heard a lot of good things about the book. I always like a good romance. I might read the book but I’ll probably just go and see the movie when it comes out.
The book I read was called the Wizard of Oz. The beginning of the novel was really interesting, then went downhill from there. It was getting so boring that I had to force myself to read it, or I didn’t at all. Therefore I had to cram in about 14 chapters at once, rather than three a night like planned. I would recommend this book to a third grader. The things that were in the book were too make-believe, and none of it was realistic at all. I would have rather had the author add at least a few things that were realistic.
The book that Danielle is reading (Pay It Foward) sounds interesting. It seems like a book that I could sit down and get into. It sounds that she is enjoying her book, and since she and I share most of the same interests, that I would also enjoy reading this book. I may borrow it for our next book project at the end of the trimester. She tells me it is a good book and that I would probably like reading it.
John J’s book Catch-22 sounds like a pretty interesting book. I actually looked at it before choosing Sleep Rough tonight. I would probably read it on my own time not for an independent book project though because it is too long.
For my book project I read “The Pact” by Judi Picoult. I absolutely loved it! Throughout it, the story skips from “Then”, when you read about the main characters Emily Gold and Chris Harte growing up and developing a relationship, to “Now” when Chris is on trial for the murder of Emily. Chris and Emily have known each other since they were born. They were the best of friends, and soon grew even closer. By the time they were both thirteen, they became a couple. Everyone knew this would happen and was overjoyed when it did. Suddenly, one early morning at 3am, both sets of parents receive a phone call from the hospital. Chris had been injured and Emily had died from a gunshot to the head. This point of the book was a real tear jerker. On Chris’s eighteenth birthday, the police barged into his house and arrested him. He was being accused of murdering his beloved Emily. He now has to wait in jail for his trial to arrive. Then he can prove his innocence. Is he really innocent? Did he actually kill Emily, the girl he truly loved? Or was Emily suicidal? You’ll have to read the book in order to find out!
The book I read for my report is “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” by Mark Twain. It’s a really good book if you like adventure and to be kept on the edge of your seat. The book is basicly about a boy named Tom Sawyer and all his little adventures and one big adventure that comes together to form a great book. I would probibly rate this book in my top ten.
I think the book that Dylan M read sounds perty interesting. I might have to take a look at it for my next book report. Especially because he said it is a quick read and I like that.
The book I am reading is The bird Yard by Julia Wallis Martin. So far I do not like it. It bounces back and forth between three main characters that don’t seem related in any possible way, and makes it confusing to follow. It is about how 2 boys have gone missing, one from the past and found dead, and the other has gone missing only recently. One of the main characters is Parker, an investigator who was searching for both of the boys. Parker keeps on harassing a man convicted of child molestation by getting more and more warrants to search his house, dig up his yard, and go through his trash. The man, Byrne, had no evidence of the boys being there besides a watch on the sidewalk in front of his store, leaving Parker no more suspects and no more hope left for the boy.
My book is called Cherub Mission 2 the Dealer. It is a really good book. It has alot of action in it. I think if you like action then you will like this book. The very first chapter is when the two main characters go and do a practice mission for the government. They get shot by two other people that go to the same place for the missions for kids. The two main charactors thought it would be a good idea to go and excape from the mission at the end with a car. This is just a little summary that I will give to you.
The book that Jasmine P. is reading sounds really interesting and unique. By Daniel Waters throwing in so many twists in a normal type of book sounds like it would be a really good book. He sounds like a really creative author and I would like to read that book and may be more of his books, if any. Most books that don’t seem like it could happen makes you wish it would, and you imagining life if it ever did. Like Anthem by Ayn Rand, I loved that book and didn’t want to put it down, and Generation Dead could have that same effect. What is a better book to read than a unique book that ties in a love story with zombies and humans than that one. Thank you Jasmine P, I now need to find Generation Dead and read it my self.
Alyssa H.’s book “Prefect Match” sounds very interesting. Even though it’s a bad thing happening, I can admit that it’s something that would keep me reading the book, not wanting to put it down. Alyssa ‘left me hanging’ with her post, and I really want to know what’s going to happen in the rest of the book! I’ve read a different book by Judi Picoult and fell in love with her writing style. I’m really eager to read another book by her and I think “Perfect Match” would be the next one I will read.
I read the book The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult. I loved this book. This is the first book I have read by her and I fell in love with it. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a little of everything in what they are reading. I would even recommend it to boys because it’s not a book that involves a lot of romantic material. This book is in my top ten list of must-reads. One reason I enjoyed this book so much was because it kept me engaged. I never wanted to put it down. The book was always making thrilling turns and a new twist happened every time I read. I really enjoyed this book and it had me captivated. I’m sure anyone who reads it will be enthusiastic about it too!
I think that the book Nicole W. read sounds very interesting. This is another one of my favorite authors. I have read all of her books except this one. Sarah Dessen does a great job of pulling the reader in and becoming engrossed in her books. I think this new book she has written sounds very fascinating. Mostly all of her books deal with teenagers that go through difficult situations that happen in real life. This is what draws me in because I can relate to it. I am very interested in reading this new book to complete her book series.
The book “Lock and Key” by Sarah Dessen that Nicole W. is reading sounds very interesting. I am a big fan of Sarah Dessen. It’s actually something I can read and understand. I like how it teaches teens that even if you feel like you have nobody there for you in your life, you really do. There will always be someone out there in your family or even a close friend that will be there for you no matter what. It also sounds like it has more themes that teens can relate to and maybe even help them out in real life situations, and I think that’s cool.
I read the book “The Winning Kicker” by Thomas J. Dygard. I unfortunately did not enjoy this book very much at all, I found it be too much about a girl trying to prove herself to her football coach rather then the excitement of a good football game as Dygard it great at describing in many of his other books. I would not recommend this book unless you are into books that are about showing how girls can be any thing they want to be. This book would probably rate second in my bottom five, right underneath “The Scarlet Letter”.
I think the book that Alex K. is reading sounds like a really good book. I think i would enjoy reading it.
The book Amanda F is reading sounds really good. I think it would be really interesting. I have heard many good things about the author, Nicholas Sparks. I have not yet read any of his books but I have friends that are now reading a few of his books that think they are some of the best books they have read. I think the book sounds interesting in the way that a guy from the city falls in love with someone he never would have expected to fall in love with, the librarian. It sounds very mysterious and suspenseful. I feel as if I would very much enjoy this book.
The book that I read for my 1st independent book project was Choke by Chuck Palahniuk. I took a big interest in this book. It had alot of good details, and theme’s. I thought one of theme’s would be that sometimes you have to grab life by the horns, and take what life gives you. The author does a really good job at telling his life in detail. Victor Mancini is a recovering sex addict who is a medical school dropout. The book basically tells about his 12 steps to recovery and everything that happens inbetween. He tries to recover his hidden past. Its really addicting, you should read it!
I think The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult that Jena P is reading sounds really good! I love Jodi Picoult books. She is an amazing author. Shes really good at reaching out to her readers and getting them to stay in tune with the reading. I read one of her books one time, and I never wanted to put it down. I think I might actually read this book.
I really enjoyed Happy Hour at Casa Dracula because the main character mil is a very sassy older woman. She’s always joking around with her friends and she’s constantly quoting her mother. Mil’s mother once told her that her curviness “caused otherwise outstanding individuals to be have badly.” She definitely makes me think of my friends and I and how we joke around. On the title page it says “caution: upon reading hilarity insues.” And it means it.
The book I read was “Frightful’s Mountain by Jean Craighead George. I thought the author did a great job of writing this book because she put in some great details. When i read this book I could see everything that was happening in my head because it was so descriptive and easy to imagine. The book is about a boy who finds a baby falcon on a bridge and helps in learn how to fly and hunt for its self. These two become very close and do everything together. They also rely on one another.
The book Jena P read seems very interesting. The thing that really sold me and giving book a try was that its not a romantic book. Jena also says its in her top ten, which means its a good book to read because she knows her books. She also says that its hard to put down, which is good because it keeps me into a book and its a lot easier for me to read something i enjoy than something i do not understand or is boring. You never know what is going to happen next and that always keeps you guessing.
The book that i read was “Dear John” by Nickolas sparks and i enjoyed this book a lot, it was probably the best book ever that i actually followed through. Nicolas sparks is an amazing author and I’ve seen many of his movies and this book was a movie also, but i didn’t see it. The author does a really good job at being very descriptive and explains every little detail and that’s what makes this book unique.
I think the book that Chrissy B. read sounds kinda interesting, because its about putting everything that has been in your past behind you and living live as it comes to you with no regrets, so basically whoever and whatever was in your past, and if its not with you today doesn’t deserve to be in your life this very moment. i think it sounds really good and i would consider reading it sometime soon.
