ENGLISH 11A 1st Book Project Posting Spot

books.jpgFOR YOUR first book project this term, in addition to the talk and the reading logs, you are required to post to this spot twice. You must fill the box to get full credit, and if you have numerous errors, I will not approve it, and you will have to redo it. Proofread! Use only your first name and last initial. The criteria for the postings is as follows.

1.  In the first post, tell people what you think of your book. Do you like it? Would you recommend it? Tell us something interesting. These are only suggestions, not a formula for an answer. Use details, examples, and explanation to support your opinion. Most of your posting should express your thoughts about the book, not just a summary of the plot.

2.  In your second post, respond to another student’s posting. What do you think about his or her book? Would you read it? Why? Why not? Address your comments directly to the person.

Have fun!

  1. I read the novel Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer and thought that it was absolutely, without a doubt, the best book I have ever read in my entire life! I would, and have, recommended this book to anyone who I have had a conversation about books with. I mainly enjoyed this book so much because it gave a new and desirable twist on a forbidden love story and how much you are willing to go through to save your loved-ones lives. It doesn’t talk about love the entire book though. It deals with family and complications due to immortality as well, but most importantly it has action too! So it’s not just a book for girls!

  2. My book is called Perfect You by Elizabeth Scott. I would recommend this book to girls mainly and who like the whole high school romantic, drama kinda of stuff. This book was good in a way because it kind of showed the real life and what you have to do to make it meaningful. It shows family complications and love that does not last. Another thing is to be who you are, and to not be someone who you’re not. This book teaches you to take chances and get used to changes and always be close to the ones you love and trust them even if they are stubborn. It also shows that life doesn’t come all perfect and neatly wrapped with a bow on it. When you open it there will be some surprises and things you didn’t want but you have to deal with it, and move on to the next big surprise!!

  3. I am responding to Asleigh S. I think that the book that you read is really good. How you explained it pretty well suits the book. I have read the book. It is very long, but what you read makes you want to read more. I also would recommend the book, even if you are against all that Twilight stuff. And like you said there a definitely some twists and forbidden love but it ties the book together so well. I wish she would make more books to go along with this one. Even though it was the fourth and final book I wanted more to read and more information. But like you, I enjoyed the book and I am glad you liked it!

  4. I am reading The Blind Side: Evolution Of a Game by Michael Lewis. So far it is a very interesting book to read. It is full of football information and is funny. in the book the main character is Micheal Oher. He is a six foot- four, three hundred and ten pound sixteen yearold, he is also called “Big Mike”. When coaches see him coming they say he looks like a house walking into a bigger house. I would recomend this book to anyone who likes football or just a good story about accomplishing your goals.

  5. I am responding to Toni K’s book. Your book was titled Perfect You. It sounds like a very good book and it actually sounds like something that I would want to read. Usually that happens with me and you though… we have very similar reading likes and dislikes. One thing that I would have to add though, is that with all the drama in the book it’s actually kind of nice for the reader because even though it may seem like your life is full of enough drama, it is still fun to emerse yourself in a whole new world, especially when the characters problems don’t have anything to do with you! Thanks for the recommendation Toni! I’ll probably go out and read it pretty soon here!

  6. I am reading the book Geek High by Piper Banks. The book is about a girl, Miranda Bloom, who is a maths genius with divorced parents, an evil stepmother and no boyfriend in sight, because she doesn’t look pretty.
She is the girl who is in love with a boy, that dates her step-sister.
Finally, she becomes pretty and is in love with another guy.
I think the book is pretty good, it is the typical girl’s story; from the ugly and freaky girl to a pretty and lovely girl. Mostly you can pretend what is going to happen, but this doesn’t matter.

  7. I am responding to Zach’s book.
I think it seems really interesting, although I don’t like football.
To accomplish a goal is always a good story, because you can possibly learn something for your life, that makes it easier to accomplish your own goals.
I hope to find out more about the book when you have your book talk, because I want to know what’s the goal he wants to achieve.

  8. I am reading the book Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler. This is definitely one of my favorite books. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Kissed by an Angel is a love story between two high school students but also a book of believing. The main character has a belief for angels, but when her one true love dies in a car accident, she loses that belief, and it’s his job to get her to accept the Angels back into her life. Elizabeth Chandlers writing makes you feel the main characters sorrow and pain. It makes you appreciate what you have. This story is most definitely a tear jerker. Its a great book for teens, young adults, and both genders. I wouldn’t just recommend it to girls, because of the true feelings I believe both, guys and girls would like it.

  9. I read Around the World in Eighty Days by Jules Verne. I enjoyed it very well, but my only complaint about is that the book went very fast. I think the author did this though to further emphasize the fact that the main character Phileas Fogg was always in a hurry. He was in a hurry because he made a 20,000 pound bet (around $32,000) that he could make it around the world in eighty days in the year of 1872. Phileas Fogg brought with him his servant Jean Passepartout to travel the world with him. Along the way they run into various challenges and delays. Even though I though the book went rather quick, I would still recommend it to someone who enjoys the journey style of book because what is a greater journey than circumnavigating the world in eighty days.

  10. I am reading the book The Inferno By Dante Ligheri. I kind of like the book. It’s easy to read so I can understand it. It is about a man named Dante and he goes to hell to get the soul of the woman he loves. In the book Hell has 9 levels. Each level is for a certain sin that was committed. I would recommend this book to people who like the supernatural because this book has a lot of it in it. It also has after every canto a explanation of all the things mentioned in the canto.

  11. Michael, I’m glad you enjoyed your book. You might want to try a book called 2001: A Space Odyssey. It’s sci-fi about space travel and extra-terrestrial life. I’m not a huge sci-fi fan, but I liked this one.

  12. I’m reading The Boyfriend List by E. Lockhart. I thought that this book was good. I would recommend this book to girls or whoever likes the whole high school drama stuff. I enjoyed this book because it didn’t stay on one problem for long. It says that the guy’s you date in high school will most likely not be the one you spend the rest of your life with. It also shows how everyone is not perfect. People may need help by others, for example the main character, Meghan, has panic attacks, and she is getting help for the attacks. All in all, this book teaches you that everyone is not perfect and you just have to live life to the fullest.

  13. I am reading “Louder Than Words” by Jenny McCarthy and this is book is pretty amazing. I love it and I would love to read some of her other books. She held my intrest in every chapter. She almost made me cry in parts of the book when she explained how she found out the her son Evan was autistic and how God helped her through the hard times. She makes me think about all the children with disabilities in the world. I would definetly reccomend this book to other students.

  14. I am responding to Taylor C. I think your book sounds like a very good book to read because for one it’s about something that happens to a lot of children and I think that more of us should read about these certain things, like disabilities. If we read about them then we know more of what actually happens, and with learning about the disability we will learn not to judge these children and adults with it. We have a better understanding of it and thats important. I would read your book because it seems like a very emotional book that I could really get into and a book that I may not be able to put down. Also if the book made you cry then it brought out true feelings, and that, in a book, is important to me. I have to feel something while reading or I am not getting the entire message and with this book I think I will.

  15. I am reading “Skeleton Key” by Anthony Horowitz. In this book, the main character, Alex is tasked with helping the MI6 find and stop a General who is in possession of weapons-grade uranium. I think Alex’s character is well developed because of his critical thinking skills that help him do his spy work incredibly well. One thing Alex has in common with most of today’s youth is that he does not believe the British intelligence agency appreciates what he does for them, which includes putting his life in danger to save ( on his own) the world from a nuclear threat. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys James Bond or any other spy novel.

  16. I read the book Texasville, by Larry McMurty. I like the book a lot. The whole book fits together great. The main characters are living in a small town with few people and virtually no economy. There is a lot of chaos between all of the characters. I like reading the book because there are a lot of events that keep you reading. The whole atmosphere and plot of the book just makes you want to live there. The book takes place from the 50’s and goes forward to the 80’s. I would definitley recommend this book to anywone that likes comedy and drama. I personally don’t like drama but this book was pretty good.

  17. I am responding to Zach F. The book that you read sounds like something I would be intrested in. The book actually sounds good. It sounds like this book would make a lot of people laugh. The character sounds like a good fit for the book that you read. I think the whole theme of it is a very good theme. Reading a book about goals might help somebody accomplish their own. Sounds like a great book.

  18. I am responding to Garin H.’s book the Skeleton Key by Anthony Horowitz. I think I would consider reading it and would probably enjoy because I have read various spy novels in the past and have enjoyed them. If I were to read it I would have to start with Stormbreaker, which is the first in the Alex Rider series. It shows more of the back story and how Alex became to be a spy. The only thing that I probably wouldn’t like about your book is that it doesn’t seem like the story line leaves room for failure or something turning out not how it you think it is going to end. It seems like the moment they introduce the General character as the target you would be able to guess easily how the book ends. I would still probably read it though if I were searching for a book.

  19. I am reading the book “Geek Abroad” by Piper Banks. I really liked it. I usually don’t like reading books but this one I really liked. It’s a girl book, so there was drama and romance which is interesting to read. I think it’s interesting how her mom lives in London and she gets to visit her mom for Christmas break. I’ve always wanted to go to London for Christmas. I finished my book today and I loved the ending; she eventually gets the man of her dreams and they lived happily ever after!

  20. I am responding to Emma L’s. book. This book sounds pretty good. I would love to go to London! The only thing that I wouldn’t like is drama, but that’s what makes the book good! I would love to live happily ever after with the man of my dreams!

  21. I read the book Whistling in the Dark by Lesley Kagen. This book was very good, it talked about hardships and dealing with life. The main character, Sally O’Malley was dealing with a lot when she narrated this book about her father’s death, and her mother’s illness. Lesley Kagen did a really good job at illustrating what it would be like to be an independent child during the 1950’s. There are a lot of people in the book that help Troo and Sally O’Malley through their hard times, so I also think this book shows caring. I would highly recommend this book to anybody who likes to read about real life and children. I loved this book and I think anybody else would also enjoy it! :)

  22. I am responding to Zach F’s book, The Blind Side: Evolution Of a Game by Michael Lewis. This book sounds like it would be interesting if you like football or are interested in reading about people following their dreams. I personally don’t like football that much, but if I did, I would actually like to read this book. It sounds like it would be a very good book to read on down time, or for a project. I probably won’t read it, but if I ever needed to read a football book, I would consider it.

  23. I read the book called The Heratic Queen by Michelle Moran. This book is really good so far. I like how she shows the normal lives of royalty and how inside they are human and have faults like everyone else. It’s a love story between the old Princess of Egypt and the newely crowned Pharoah of Egypt. There is a war going on during it also a drought taking place. While all of these things are going on the Princess has to find her own place in the palace, whether she is a pretess or the Queen of Egypt. On top of it all she is the niece and daughtor of Heretic Queens, and is harassed by the Egyptians for it. I would recomend this book to any girl intrested in historical fiction.

  24. I am commenting on Emma’s book, Geek Abroad. That sounds like a fun book to read. I love reading love stories with happy endings. This is one of the books I am thinking about reading for the next book project. I also like books set in different times or places.

  25. The book I’m reading is called Eclipse. I’m in love with the story. It a series and I’m only at the beginning but I can tell it’s going to get better. I’m really surprised at how infatuated Jacob is towards Bella. He should know that Bella doesn’t love him, she loves Edward. I highly recommend this book to people who like chick flicks, romance, fantasy, and a little bit of action. It’s a fantastic book to do on a book report, but it just has a lot of information to put together. I wouldn’t recommend Eclipse for a book report. A prediction I have is that Bella already has powers as a human and when she becomes a vampire, that will be her power.

  26. My book is pretty interesting. I like it, but it’s a long book. The name of my book is ” A Thousand Splendid Suns”. The main character in my book is this little girl named Mariam, and she has it hard because her mother and father do not get along, and she wants to go live with her father. Her mom is an unhappy woman, and tends to take out her frustrations on Mariam. I would recommend this book mainly to girls. This book would not be rated in my top five favorite books to read. This books shows the reader that sometimes when you go looking for something to hard, you can end up getting your feelings hurt in the long run.

  27. I am responding to Zack F. I like your book because it is about football, and because you said that it is a funny book. It seems to me that funny books are easier for me to read because they keep my attention, which makes me want to read more and more. I wonder how good this six feet four, three hundred and ten pound teenager is at football. He is described as a big man who probably could take on the whole offense, and defense of line. I wish Fruitport had some big guy like that. The last big person we had on our football team that big was Mike Hall. He also was six feet four, but only about two hundred, and forty pounds. That is still huge!

  28. I am reading “Leaving Paradise” and it is a really good book so far. The book is really kind of sad but the two main characters fight quite a bit, that is after Caleb gets out of prision. Maggie has been in physical therepy since Caleb hit her in his car one night, drunk at the wheel. He hit Maggie and eventually they kind of like each other.

  29. I am responding to Garin H. I like your book because it talks about spies and secret agents. I think this would be an interesting book to read. I like the action packed books so it would be good for me to read. Maybe I will consider that book for my next book report. I think the British spy thing is cool too.

  30. The book I am reading is called “Let The Right One In” by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I really enjoy this book because it has a very unique and vulgar language. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a book that is different from the rest. I do not recommend this book to anyone who gets disturbed easy or is under the age of 15. This book is very unique because of its writing style. It constantly changes between the main characters based upon their interaction. It also has the chapters separated by date and tells all that occurs on the date.

  31. The book I read was The burn Journals. I think this book overall is good. It is a fast pace and it all makes sense. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about drama and a lot of action. I would have to say this book is in my top 10. One thing interesting about this book is a kid has horrible times in school. He goes home and pours gas on himself in the shower and started a fire all over his body. He gets terribly hurt and has to be in the hospital for months. This book is very unordinary.

  32. I am responding to Brandon Jamison’s blog post. His book A Thousand Splendid Suns sounds like a really good book. I like confusing books and this one sounds frustrating. I think that if Brandon says the book is in his top five books it will be a good book to read. Just by the title of the book it sounds really interesting. I think for my next book I am going to consider reading it. I like how Brandon said the quote, someone always gets hurt in the end. That is totally true.

  33. I am writing this in response to Garin’s post about “Skeleton Key” by Anthony Horowitz. I think that I would consider reading this book sometime in the near future. This book appeals to me because I am a fan of the James Bond movies and enjoy the whole thought of spies doing secret missions across the world. The only reason I would not read this book would be that I have read a few spy books and they all seemed very slow and not very appealing. From what Garin said it sounds like this wouldn’t be a problem. I would consider reading this in the future but it wouldn’t be at the top of my list of books to read.

  34. The book I read was “Bleachers” by John Grisham. I really enjoyed reading the book and say that it is one of my favorites. I would recommend it to those who have a great interest in football and have a love for the game. There aren’t certain parts in the book that really stand out because a bunch of former players just meet in their old bleachers and speak of old memories on the field. This book is easy to understand and great to read.

  35. I am responding to Zack F. I like his book because I know it is about an actual player who plays in the NFL. Michael Oher was an orphan and didn’t even know his real name until he was 16. Like Zack said, he is a huge guy blessed with plenty of size. His story was very interesting, and I would like to learn more about him by reading this book.

  36. I’m finally reading The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini. I say finally because it seems like every adult I know who reads fiction has read this book, including all of the other English teachers here.

So far, it’s a really compelling story about a boy and his servant. The servant is his best friend, but the relationship is complicated because one boy is the master of the other. The narrator is the wealthy boy, and he is not very likeable, but I’m trying to understand his emotions during some of his questionable actions.

I’m enjoying reading about some Afghan traditions such as kite flying, and the political turmoil that causes families to break apart and flee makes me thankful that I don’t live in a war-torn nation. (We tend to bring our wars to other nations.) It’s a sad story but one that makes me think.

  37. I am responding to a student’s book post about Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyers. I’ve been dying to start this book for a while but I’m doing the report on the book before Breaking Dawn. I’m really excited to start the book to see if Bella becomes part of the Cullen family, or just to see what Jacob Black does after he ran away. The only reason I would read this book is because it’s the last book in the Twilight series and I kind of almost have to finish it off.

  38. The book I am reading for my first book assignment is Point Blank by Anthony Horowitz. I like the book very much because it is very exciting and has a lot of adventure throughout the whole novel. The book goes into detail about a lot of the scenes and projects a very good image of what is going on and what the character looks like in your head. I really enjoy the plot line because it is about a teenager and he goes through a lot of problems so it makes me happy to be where I am instead of where he is. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys adventure novels.

  39. I am responding to Mike R.’s posting about his book called The Burn Journals. It sounds like a very interesting book with a really good plot line. I would definitely consider reading that book for my next book report book. Mike went into good detail describing how he felt about his book and showing that he enjoyed reading the book. His book sounds a lot like mine because it is the same genre and it is about a teenager. I believe I would enjoy reading more about Mike’s book and possibly reading it for my next book.

  40. I am responding to Chris’s book, “Let The Right One In” by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I would definitely love to read this book, because I am a fan of thrillers/crime books and television shows based around solving crimes and the people that commit them. I think it would also interest me because of the language and tone which I find to be very helpful in getting me to understand a book’s plot more. I would like the writing style of the book as well and the extreme amount of details that the author put into each chapter for each date that an event had occurred. The only reason I would not read this book would be that it is a little too detailed for me and I find it kind of hard to imagine that in real life some people have to go through what the characters in Chris’s book have to.

  41. The book I am finishing up is The Doctor’s Wife by John Glatt. This book is a pretty good book but also very different then most. The book was written by a Criminal investigator and is a true story. He writes about cases he has viewed.
At first this book is very boring and just describing the several main characters of the book or case. Then once it actually gets into the case its gets a lot more interesting from there on out. I would not really recommend this book to anyone unless they like to read about true murder cases. I only find this book interesting because it is a true story and not based on one. I am nearly done and this book tells you a lot about how a private investigator, crime scene investigators, and the media would go about on a murder case.

  42. The novel I am commenting on is called Tyrell. I really do like this book, but not too much of what is in it. The hardships Tyrell and his family faces on a day to day basis I could not handle. Tyrell is a fifteen year old boy that is simply trying to be a teenager, but with his father in jail he has responsibilities. He acts as the man of the household trying to make money to rent an apartment and escape the motel they are staying at because of the EAU (Emergency Assistance Unit). The life that Tyrell lives everyday is a nightmare I would have once in a great while. Living and struggling to survive in the Bronx is a challenge and something exciting is always at hand for Tyrell.

  43. For my independent book project I read “Elsewhere” by Gabrielle Zeven. This book was a little weird but I liked it. Liz, the main character, is dead and doesn’t even know it at first. She is on a boat whcih is taking her to Elsewhere. In my opinion the reader is supposed to think of Elsewhere as the after life. I like how my book gets you thinking about the world. For example, in Elsewhere you age backwards from the moment you arrive. When you reach seven days old you are sent down a river, back to earth, to be reborn. I would recommend this book to girls.

  44. I am responding to Zach F’s book Blind Side. I think that the book you have read is good from the way you explained it. I would most likely read a book like this or the very same book because I love football and this book seems to be one-hundred percent pure football. To read about a sixteen year old that is three-hundred and ten pounds must be exciting. How often do you come across a sixteen year old that huge. The book that you are reading seems to be very interesting and exciting.

  45. I am responding to Ashleigh Six’s book, “Breaking Dawn” and Jessica Hartman’s, “Eclipse.” Ashleigh and Jessica, I know exactly how you feel. I read the whole series last year! When I started reading them I didn’t stop untill I was done. I can’t wait for New Moon to come out. NOVEMBER, YAY! Even though the books are much better than the movies, it’s still nice to go watch. The “Twilight Series” have to the best group of books I’ve ever read. Even though they seem really girly I think a guy could read them too.

  46. I read “The Secret Between Us” by Barbara Delinsky. I really liked it because I felt like I could relate to the main character Deborah and how she had to make a difficult choice. I would recommend this book to others because it has a good life lesson. It shows that in life you may need to make some difficult but important choices. They may effect others along with yourself. The book went right into the main point of the plot in the first paragraph. Overall I would say it is a good book to read when looking for advice. It wasn’t that interesting throughout the book because the most important parts, I think, happened in the beginning. It didn’t seem like a real page turner.

  47. I am responding to Toni K. Her book “Perfect You” sounds really interesting to me. It sounds like alot of things happen that would just keep you reading on and on. I would read her book because I like books that I can relate to and use the advice that was given. It’s good to be inspired by what you read because you may not get that in your day to day life. One reason that I would not read it is because it may be a little too girly for me. I do have to say that I might just have to check it out.

  48. The book I read was called Bull Catcher by Alden R. Carter. This book is actually pretty good. It is about a kid named “bull” (his real name is Neil) and he is on the baseball team. Baseball has been his whole life since he was a little kid. His friends are all really into baseball too. They always work hard to get better. But besides baseball they always have life problems going on off the field too. Neil only sees his mom every once in a while, his friend Billy’s dad beats him, his friend steals the girl of his dream, Jeff, his best friend, doesn’t get along at all with any coaches. I think that it’s cool how the author used a lot of action on and off the field. It keeps you reading.

  49. I am responding to Brandon B’s book Tyrell. It must be hard for that Tyrell kid to have to try and support his family instead of his dad. I would hate to have to live fighting to get to the next day. Sometimes I think I have it rough but there is always someone with a way tougher life than you. It sounds like the book was interesting and good to read. Sounds like you can walk away with something from it. I’m not much of a reader but books like that always keep me interested. Maybe for my next book that we have to read I will try and find this Tyrell book.

  50. The book I read is called THE GLORY FIELDS. The book describes a lot of different twists and turns that I never saw coming. When I read this book I felt like I was ALL the main characters. The book was different then what I excpect. The vocabulary was not hard to understand. I recommend this book to any person that likes to read books about slavery, rascim and the art form of agriculture. Walter Dean Myers, the author of this book, made many paths that lead me down different roads in the book. This is a splended book.. and eveyone should read it.

  51. I’m respondng to Kyle V. book, A Child Called IT. Wow it must really be difficult to have an abusive mother. I can’t imagine a mother to treat her own kids the way she did. I can see maybe punishing, like putting them in time out, but not stabbing the kid. I might want to read the book so it can be more in depth to see how she really treats this kid. It amazes me how parents treat their kids as if they are dogs. I really don’t like to read but maybe I’ll have to pick this book up sometime. I know the kid is having a hard time and all, and I hope he will get through it, so I will have to find out myself.

  52. I am responding to Jordan G’s book Bull Catcher. The book sounds pretty intense. I think that your book shows that some kids live a rough life. Sounds like a book that would make you want to read because there is a lot of drama and everything else you can think of going on. Personally I do not think that I can really find interest reading this book because that I do not find interest in baseball. I can never read a book that does not catch my interest. For the rest of it I think I would be able to. The main character in the book sounds like his life completely is in the toilet. I know if I was him I would defiantly say something if all of that was happening to me. The book sounds pretty good for the most part.

  53. The book that I chose to read was, The Zombie Survival Guide, by Max Brooks. This book wasn’t my favorite book, but it did have some good parts. I would recommend this book to people who are interested in zombies, vampires and other fictional things. In the book it describes zombie physiology, history of zombies, strategies to defend yourself from zombies, and much more interesting facts about zombies. I thought it was interesting how Brooks told you about each different kind of zombies and they all don’t act the same. For example, each kind of zombie has a different kind of defensive strategy. Like, in order for them not to really get you, you have to carry emergency flairs, signaling mirrors, or have a weapon on you at all times. This book was well written with, details, creepiness, and humor. It teaches you how to be prepared if you ever come face to face with a zombie in real life and just the history of zombies.

  54. I am responding to Zach F. He read the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game by Michael Lewis. It was an interesting, and entertaining book as he described. Zach has convinced me to look into this book, and possibly read it. This is how Zach described this book to me, Big Mike was a team player, and accomplished his goals that he had set. Zach recommended this book to anyone who likes football. I would fit into that category because I actually play the sport. I may be interested in taking Zach’s recommendation in reading this book because it is about a topic that I am familiar with and easy for me to comprehend.

  55. The novel that I read was called Unwind written by Neal Shusterman. The main character’s name is Conner. His parents signed an order for him to be unwound. Which means that before he is 18 his body is government property and is distributed to people who need it. He discovered this on his own. While looking through his parents dresser he found 3 tickets to the Bahamas, the problem was that there was four people in his family. This made him curious, so he started snooping through more things. He found the order to be unwound which was set for the day before the trip. He figured this was so that his parents wouldn’t feel bad. If he can run away before he turns 18 he will be a free man. He asks his girlfriend Ariana to run away with him but she ends up standing him up. While making his escape at a rest stop cops were circling, he wasn’t sure if they were searching for him or if they were searching for another person that was to be unwound. He ran to the nearest semi truck. He asked the trucker if he could hide there. The trucker agreed and drove him North. Around 7:30 a.m. Conner’s phone rang. It was his father. Then a cop knocked on the truck. Conner was caught, but he wasn’t giving up that easily. He darted across the road, and hictched a ride.

  56. I’m responding to Jordan G’s book Bull Catcher. I think that the book sounds pretty good. The only reason I don’t think that it sounds good is that I don’t like baseball that much, I’m more of a hockey fan myself. I think that the kid is going through a rough time in his life and needs to pull through it. I think he should beat up his best friend for stealing the girl of his dreams.

  57. I read “The DA Vinci Code” by Dan Brown. The book was a very good and interesting however, I’m more of an action lover and this book was all about mystery. I recommend this book to anyone who loves solving mysteries. The idea that got my attention about the book was a murder case. I love how they put ancient history in the book to solve the case. Honestly they couldn’t have solved the case without Langdon and his knowledge about goddess iconography. This book is very detailed and will keep you reading to the end.

  58. I am writing a response to Mike R. about his book “The Burn Journals”. This book seems interesting to me because it sounds like a lot of action. I thought the book was a little creepy because the boy set himself on fire. I wonder why the kids at school picked on the kid, and what they do to him, to make him go home and set himself on fire. Sounds like I would enjoy reading this book, I would love to check it out for my next independent book project.

  59. The book I read was called The Shack by William P. Young. This book was by far the best and the most inspirational book I’ve ever read. I really enjoyed reading this, the events that occured were so unexpected and kept me turning pages. I would recommend this book to anyone who is in need of spiritual inpiration. I didn’t know this was a Christian novel when I first got the book, but it turned out really great in the end, it was worth reading. I learned alot from this book. It taught me to look at things from a new perspective.

  60. I’m responding to Emily’s first blog. I think her book would be interesting to me. It sounds like something I would read.I love when the author is so good with their words that they can make you feel their pain. I have read a few books like that and a love story with a death in it definitley sounds like something I would want to read. I know she obviously likes this book. It is a definite possibility that I would read this book. Sounds good to me

  61. I am responding to Jasmine S’s post. This book seems really interesting. I love reading high school novels, all the drama and boyfriend troubles. In high school there is alot of drama, sometimes it’s nice to see how others handle it in different ways. They teach many lessons from a teenager’s point of view. We girls can relate to the situations that go on in the book, or we find out that the problems going on in the book could be much worse than what we’re going through.

  62. So here’s two posts in one.
First, my book (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?). At first, I would have suggested the book to anyone interested in sci-fi, but having finished the book I’m not so certain. It’s not a bad read, but it slowly starts to lose the fun factor that draws you to the book. Personally, I’m not a big fan of the book. It could have been better. Now I’d probably only suggest it to people who are just getting into sci-fi books, because it’s not a bad start. Androids that mix in with humans and a bounty hunter that needs to find the androids in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world full of strange devices. Standard sci-fi.
    Now for my second post.
Responding to the book Chris read, I have to say, that has to be pretty gruesome to keep a 15 year old away from. But it really does seem kind of interesting. When I think of a book, I think of something lame and afraid to try something different. A book that either uses simple language, or complex language, and describes things with caution. If you’re reading a book that just describes things flat out with no censorship, that is awesome. But I’ve seen that book, and it looks about half the size of a dictionary. I don’t think I’d ever read it, but it does seem interesting.

  63. Emma, I’m glad that you liked your book. I seem to like that sort of stuff too. I usually don’t read books either. Maybe I’ll go to the library and rent it out.

  64. I read the book Now You Love Me. It’s about this little girl expressing how she lives with her mother being single taking care of her two children. I would recommend it to anyone who thinks they know how life is for a single parent. It totally made my point of view changed. I usually don’t read books but this one kept me going, the beginning was kind of boring I won’t lie.

  65. I am responding to Caitlyn’s posting. I think her book sounds like a really good book and I would like to read it. If I wouldn’t have put my kid up for adoption then I would have been a single parent. So I would like to know what it’s actually about. Seeing from sombody else’s point of view would be interesting to me. I think that she liked her book. It sounds like I would want to put the book down at the beginning, but normally you have to keep reading to see if it’s going to get any more interesting,
