Reading Resources for Parents

During the school year, I will be posting resources for you to use at  home to help your child with reading.  Check back often for updates.

Sight Word Lists (also called Dolch Words).  We begin with the Pre-Primer list (Orange list) and when a child knows 90 % of those words, they ‘graduate’ to the Primer list (Blue list), and so on until they know the words on the 3rd Grade list (White list).  The children bring the words home on a “word ring” and learn these words at their own pace, mostly at home, but we do practice them here at school.  When your child lets me know that they know all the words on what ever list they are working on, I will test them within a day or so, and send the new list home if they get 90% when I test them.

Pre-Primer list:     #1 Orange List

Primer list:           #2 Blue List

1st Grade list       #3 Green List

2nd Grade list      #4 Yellow List

3rd Grade list        #5 White List
