Reader’s Workshop

Students are expected to do a certain amount of independent reading outside of the class room. Each trimester you will read one novel of your choice (approved by teacher). You are also encouraged to read from a variety of other sources that focus on your interests, including magazines, newspapers, and online sources. As you read you are to keep a reading log documenting the items you have read and a reading journal in which you will write responses to what they have read. These responses can vary from summarizing the material, questioning the author or characters, or sharing and commenting on responses with other students.
